This symposium will delve into how sex and gender influence disease manifestation, progression, and treatment response. Key discussions will include sex-specific molecular mechanisms, such as the roles of the X-chromosome and hormones, and their impact on immune, cardiovascular, respiratory conditions, and cancer. We will also explore how sex and gender aspects can be broadly and structurally implemented in biomedical research and teaching.
